Skin Cancer Study Days for Nurses

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the MelNet Executive Committee have made the difficult decision to cancel the Wellington Skin Cancer Study Day, scheduled to be held at Hutt Hospital on 29 May this year.

Whilst we are sad to take this step, we have a duty of care to ensure the health and safety of all event attendees and their wider communities. We are hoping to reschedule this day for later in the year, however this decision will not be made until we have more certainty about what the coming months may bring. We will be sure to inform you of any updates as soon as we are able.

We did investigate the possibility of holding the meeting in a webinar format, however it was your preference to hold an in-person event due to the value gained from networking opportunities with your colleagues.

A decision will be made about the remaining study days in Auckland and Bay of Plenty in the near future.

We wish you and your families all the very best through these unsettling times.

These courses are targeted at primary and secondary care nurses and nursing students. They provide an overview of skin cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and care, with a focus on melanoma. Participants should gain an increased understanding of the journey of a skin cancer patient and the critical role of a nurse throughout this journey.

They are also an opportunity to network with colleagues across the region, helping to foster new connections, collaboration and sharing of resources.
